New Principal Named At Gulf Shores Middle School

New Principal brings more than twenty years of leadership

Gulf Shores Middle School is starting a new chapter as Jamie Hill steps into the role of principal. The announcement was made by Gulf Shores City Schools, who expressed excitement about Hill joining the Dolphin family. Hill is known for his student-centered approach, strong leadership, and dedication to education. The school community is eager to welcome him and see the positive impact he will bring.


The official appointment was announced on July 14, 2025. Hill comes to Gulf Shores with over twenty years of experience in educational leadership. Before this new role, he served as principal at Discovery Middle School in Madison City Schools. He also led Columbia Elementary and held administrative positions at Bob Jones High School.


Throughout his career, Hill has focused on instruction, school safety, community involvement, and staff development. Under his leadership, schools have consistently ranked among the best in Alabama. His efforts were recognized recently when he was named the CLAS District 8 Middle School Principal of the Year.


Hill shared his excitement about joining Gulf Shores Middle School. He praised the strong foundation of success and innovation already in place. He also acknowledged the talented leadership team, teachers, and staff at GSMS. Hill said he looks forward to working with everyone to continue the school’s tradition of excellence.


Believing that all students can thrive in a positive and nurturing environment, Hill is passionate about building a school culture based on strong relationships and creative exploration. He aims to support academic growth through collaboration and consistent encouragement.


Superintendent Dr. Matt Akin expressed his confidence in Hill’s leadership. Akin described Hill as a visionary who values culture, relationships, and high expectations. He said Hill’s experience and energy are a perfect fit for the mission of Gulf Shores Middle School and the district’s commitment to student success.
