Residents will have multiple chances to share feedback before a final vote

Orange Beach Residents Invited to Town Hall About Controversial Dinner Theater

Orange Beach, Ala. — (GSN) —  Orange Beach residents are expected to weigh in on a proposed dinner theater development at a Town Hall meeting tonight, Wednesday, as city leaders seek public input ahead of key decisions on the project. The meeting will be held at the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center after the City Council meeting, which begins at 5 p.m. Officials say the goal is to gather feedback amid growing public concern before moving forward. Comments, concerns, and questions from residents will take place after Mayor Kennon gives a presentation.

The project, known as the Pirates Voyage Dinner Theater, has recently drawn increased scrutiny from residents. What had been progressing without significant opposition has now become a focal point of community debate, prompting city leaders to adjust the timeline to allow for additional public engagement.

In response to that feedback, city officials deviated from the typical approval process. Under normal procedures, the Planning Commission would review the proposal before broader public discussion. Instead, leaders opted to pause the process and hold a Town Hall first, emphasizing transparency and community involvement.

Officials say the intent is to ensure that residents and developers alike have a clear understanding of the project and the steps ahead. The Town Hall is expected to draw a large turnout, offering residents the opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns directly to city leadership.

Following the Town Hall, the Planning Commission is scheduled to review the proposal on May 19 at 4 p.m. The Orange Beach City Council is then expected to take up the project for a final vote during its regular meeting on June 2.
