Pine Rest Funeral Home Manager Out Amid Headstone Complaints

Foley, Ala. — (GSN) — Leadership changes have taken place at Pine Rest Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Foley, following complaints from customers who said they paid for headstones they never received.

Tim Street, the former manager, is no longer with Pine Rest.

Area manager Gene East told journalist he could not comment on the specifics of Street’s departure but said the business is working to complete orders.

“We're getting a lot of them done, and hopefully before too long we'll have them all down,” East said.

The family of Dora Amos waited more than two years after paying for her headstone. Her daughter, Deborah Nelson, said she is pleased that her mother has a headstone but hopes the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation.

“I am very dissatisfied that it took so long and it took a police report and news stories to get somebody to listen and to respond,” Nelson told journalist. “It's not just us either. All the others have come forward, and I'm still very upset about how all that happened. Some of the families are still waiting, and if we keep it out there and keep talking about it, they’ve got to do something.”

Another family is still waiting for their headstone to be delivered. Aimee O’Cain visited Pine Rest Cemetery on Monday, where her daughter, Hadyn O’Cain Griffin, is buried. Griffin, only 24, passed away in December 2019. O'Cain stated she was told the headstone would be delivered Thursday.

O'Cain has filed a report with the State of Alabama Funeral Service. Foley News has previously confirmed that an investigation is underway but the State's Executive Director of the Board of Funeral Services, Charles Perine, stated “we cannot comment any further while the investigation is ongoing.”

Street did not return calls from our news outlet regarding the complaints before his departure.
