24-25 Key Dates Calendar for Orange Beach Schools

Two weeks from today, the Orange Beach City Schools will begin the 2024-2025 school year, with the first day of school for students set for August 7, 2024. 


Teachers and staff will have a preparatory period starting one week from tomorrow, August 1-6, including professional development and workdays. 


This early start marks the beginning of a structured academic year, aimed at maximizing instructional time and ensuring a comprehensive educational experience for all students.


The school year includes several scheduled breaks and holidays, ensuring students and staff have ample time for rest and family activities.


Key holidays include:

  • 09/02/2024 Labor Day
  • 10/10/2024 & 10/11/2024 Fall Break
  • 11/11/2024 Veterans Day
  • 11/25-29/2024 Thanksgiving Break
  • 12/20/2024 Early Dismissal for Christmas Break
  • 12/23/2024-01/03/2025 Christmas/New Year's Break
  • 01/20/2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • 02/17/2025 Presidents' Day Holiday
  • 03/03/2025-03/05/2025 Mardi Gras Break
  • 04/14/2025-04/18/2025 Spring Break


The calendar also outlines professional development days for teachers, which will take place on the following days: August 1-2, October 10, January 3, February 17, and March 5. These days are set aside for ongoing teacher training and development, ensuring that educators are equipped with the latest teaching strategies and knowledge. 


According to the school calendar below, there will be a total of 178 instructional days in the 2024-2025 school year.


The last day of school for students is scheduled for May 22, 2025, which will also be an early dismissal day.
