Paddle Dash Race At Flora-Bama

Gulf Shores News Staff • September 17, 2025

Registration opens with a $20 entry fee covering a t-shirt, breakfast, and drinks

The Flora-Bama Paddle Dash is set to make its return this fall, drawing paddleboarders from across the coast for a morning of friendly competition. Now in its third year, the event has become a highlight for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy testing their endurance while taking in views of Ole River and the Ono Island Bridge. Organizers describe the race as lighthearted but still challenging enough to give participants a good workout. The event also offers breakfast, socializing, and prizes, ensuring that even those who do not finish first will walk away with something.

The 3rd Annual Paddle Dash will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, on the beach behind Flora-Bama’s Ole River Grill. Check-in begins at 7:00 a.m., and the race will start at 7:30 a.m. Registration opens today, September 17, through
PaddleGuru.com, and the fee is $20 per participant.

The two-mile course begins on the sand at Ole River Grill, where paddlers will head toward the Ono Island Bridge before making the return trip. It is designed to be accessible for most fitness levels while still offering enough distance for seasoned paddlers to push themselves. The route showcases a stretch of water often filled with boaters and sightseers, adding a uniquely coastal feel to the morning race.

All registrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, breakfast, and two drink cards. Those over 21 may use the cards during post-race activities at the Flora-Bama, while minors can take advantage of the meal portion of the registration package. Event rules require all participants to wear a personal flotation device during the race for safety.

Awards will be presented immediately following the competition. The top three male and top three female finishers will each receive a Flora-Bama gift card. Organizers say the goal is to reward competitive paddlers while also emphasizing the friendly, community-centered spirit that has shaped the Paddle Dash since its first year.

By combining exercise, a coastal setting, and post-race social time, the Paddle Dash strikes a balance between competition and fun. The continued growth of the event suggests it may soon become a staple of the local fall calendar.
