Past Foley Magistrate arrested for obtaining photos of minor

Foley Magistrate arrested

Joseph Fredrick Bischoff, a former magistrate judge for the City of Foley, Alabama, has been arrested on a felony charge of furnishing a controlled substance to a minor. Furthermore, he was trading the vape substances for explicit pictures of the minor.

Following a tip from a parent, Foley Police Department detectives discovered that Bischoff allegedly traded THC-laced vape devices for explicit photos and videos of underage girls. A 17-year-old minor was reportedly one of the victims.

Bischoff's bond was set at $100,000, and conditions for his release include wearing an ankle monitor and having no contact with minors. Police are investigating his electronic devices and believe there may be other victims.

The ex-magistrate has had similar legal problems in the past. Bischoff was previously arrested in 2011 on a sexual abuse charge involving an underage family friend. The outcome of that earlier case is unclear.
